Fell Charter Elementary students celebrated Earth Day on Wednesday, joining an estimated 1 billion other celebrants across the globe. The day began with a presentation on pollution control in the gym, followed by a series of craft projects for the younger students, who built bird houses out of recycled milk cartons. The older students headed outside where they spent their time sprucing up the grounds. Several bags of litter were collected, natural debris cleared, and lawns raked. The primary project was the complete overhaul of the flagpole garden; students cleared out the old mulch, prepped the area, and then spread 4 tons of crushed gravel before adding potted plants. The new garden is lovely, and Fell Charter Elementary is grateful to all the local businesses that donated supplies! We are also particularly proud of our students, who worked very hard for their school!
