Spanish Class Art Contest!
ATTENTION STUDENTS IN GRADES 6-8
National Hispanic Heritage Month Art Contest
At Fell Charter School
1. How to Enter
Contest is open to all students in grades 6-8. Students may enter the contest by submitting a portrait representing or depicting a Hispanic Theme. The portrait may be done in materials of the student’s choice. Portraits may be copied, replicated or original work. During the months of September and October we will be studying and discussing National Hispanic Heritage Month. Contest begins September 15th, 2009 and ends October 15th, 2009. Entries must be handed to Señorita Ardestani no later than 3:15pm Thursday October 15th. The back of the portrait must have students name, grade and title of portrait.

The cafeteria menu for Friday, Sept. 11th is now changed to “Chef’s Choice Day.” French bread pizza will not be served on this day.

We hope everybody had a wonderful holiday weekend! The current edition of the Weekly Warrior is now available, along with the associated notices and flyers for the week.
Fell Charter students are once again doing their annual mum sale. Mums are $5 each and can be ordered from any Fell Charter student. Orders and payment are due on Monday, Sept. 14th, and mums will be ready for pickup on Wednesday, Sept. 16th between 3 and 6 pm at the school. We hope you’ll help support out students!
Please remember, next monday is School Picture Day. Orders & payment are due that day (order forms went home last week).
Finally, if you’re looking for a nice gift for the winter holidays, Fell Charter is hosting a Family Christmas Photos session for the community. A professional photographer will be on site Monday, November 23rd at 6 pm in the school gym. There are three photo packages available for purchase; please see the flyer below for details.

We’d like to congratulate Brent Pennington, our Administrative Assistant, for an his interview in Pennsylvania Pursuits!
The interview, which was just published in the magazine, explores a bit about Mr. Pennington and how he came to be a writer for The Savvy Grouse, which is the Pennsylvania Department of Tourism’s online blog.

IMPORTANT - Please remember that anyone who receives free/reduced lunch must submit a new application for this school year, if they have not already done so. These applications need to be submitted ASAP.
The State of Pennsylvania is moving the free/reduced lunch process online. You can now fill out & submit your application at www.compass.state.pa.us. The State of PA – and Fell Charter – urge you take take advantage of this new electronic system.

On October 5th & 6th, Fell Charter Elementary School will be holding assemblies for students in all grades to cover the subject of bullying. As always, we encourage parents & guardians to take an active roll in their student’s activities and development.
So that you can be informed as well, we have posted the assembly program, “Bullying – What Parents Can Do About It.” Please take a moment to download this packet and read through it.
