USDA Ceremony

Dear Parents, Guardians, Family and Friends,

I am THRILLED to OFFICIALLY announce (even though we have been hinting at it for a long time) that the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) will be here on Wednesday, May 23rd at 11:30 a.m. to present us with a check for 6.5 MILLION DOLLARS to build a new school on our former site in Simpson! Mr. Tom Williams, State Director and a small entourage will be here to present the check to us. You are invited to attend. We will host the event outside in the parking lot (like we did for the 10th anniversary). If the weather seems to not cooperate, we will move it inside to the cafeteria. Parking should be in the furthest lot (where the teachers park) and please observe the parking signs on the street so no one is towed or ticketed.

Administrative Office Move

Beginning August 4th, Fell Charter’s Administrative Office will be located in the new facility at 27-33 Farview Street, Carbondale.

 If you are looking for support, or have a scheduled meeting, please find us at this address.

Moving Update

We will begin our move to our new facility on August 2nd & 3rd and are recruiting volunteers to help between 8am and noon both days.

During the first week of August, phone and email service will be disrupted due to the move.  We will be checking our voicemail and email often, and will be returning calls and messages as quickly as possible.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause while we get setup.  We will continue to use the same phone numbers and email addresses as at our previous location.

Parent Meeting – June 20th

The parents of Fell Charter and Mary Jo met on Wednesday night to discuss plans for our move to Farview St.

Below are the minutes of our meeting so that everyone is on the same page:

We are looking for 6 parents in the mornings of August 22, 23 and 24 to assist with bus/student arrival. Volunteers need to be at the school from 7:15 to 7:45a.m..

We are looking for 6 parents in the afternoons of August 22, 23 and 24 to assist with bus/student dismissal Volunteers need to be at the school form 10:30 to 11:05 a.m.

We are looking for one “seasoned” parent to start up our PTA. We need to get this going. We want to start small with one volunteering working with Mary Jo and Brent.

We are looking for one “greeter”. This person needs to have access to email. The plan is that once a new family enrolls, Brent will send the family info to our greeter, our greeter will call the new family, welcome them, tell them good news about Fell, and see if they have any questions. The greeter will be THE point of contact with parent questions until the new family is settled in.

We have access to our new building on August 1. We need volunteers to help us move on August 2 and August 3. We will have 2 staging areas, on here at Main St. and one on Farview St. We are renting two U Hauls and have things boxed and ready to go. We will be inviting our 8th graders to help us here at Main St.

We would like to have a table at Weis Market to recruit new families, we need folks to staff that (date to be determined).

We would like to be invited to come and talk to local church groups, Boy Scouts, Girl Scout groups etc. Please contact Mary Jo on this.

We are putting together new fliers, post cards and marketing materials to have ready for the start of school.

Billboards will be going up next week (we are targeting the area of LaSalle Academy).

We will be re-contacting the day cares in the area to discuss transportation.

Parent Volunteers Needed

Dear Parents & Guardians -

We are gearing up to move to our new building!  I’d like to meet with anyone who is available on July 20th to seek out volunteers (we have things that need to be done) and plan for our move.

We will meet at 5 pm and only go until 6 pm, and will meet in our gym (on Main St.).  We cannot get into our new building until August.

In an effort to keep things moving and ensure that we are on-task, please keep this to an adults-only meeting.

We can plan something for the children at a later date.

Fell Charter is Moving!

Fell Charter School is moving to Farview St. in Carbondale!

Parents, families and friends, I am beyond thrilled to tell you that we have worked over the last few months with Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish to facilitate a move of our Charter School to their school building on Farview St., in Carbondale.

For the first time in Fell’s ten-year history we will be located in a “brick” & mortar” school! We will start our first day, August 22^nd in our new building.

This opportunity has been along time in coming, and no one deserves a new building more than our students!

Construction Update – 083110

We’re almost there!  Just 6 more days before school starts – don’t worry, we’ll be ready.  The old building is entirely dismantled and most of the pieces have been removed.  The new, temporary modulars are on-site and assembled, and Mr. Shimo is hard at work hooking the decks back up to them.
