Fell Charter Elementary is a tuition-free public school
offering grades Kindergarten through 8th. Any child who is a resident of Pennsylvania is free to apply for enrollment, regardless of their school district of residence; Fell Charter is a public choice school, located at 27-33 Farview Stree, Carbondale, PA. Parents/guardians should realize, however, that transportation is only provided by school districts located within a 10 mile radius of Fell Charter. Any student residing beyond that radius is responsible for his/her own transportation to and from school.
Fell Charter offers the proven Paragon curriculum, with a hands-on learning approach and an emphasis on Character Education. For the past two years, Fell Charter has been named a Pennsylvania School of Character by the Center for Leadership and Ethics. In 2008, it was one of only 7 schools to receive this honor, and the only charter school. For each year since its incorporation, Fell Charter has received the Pennsylvania Department of Education’s AYP Achievement Award, for meeting or exceeding state requirements.
Fell Charter is very proud of its reputation and its role in readying students to be educated, contributing members of our global society. As such, the practiced features and standards of Fell Charter are more rigorous and require greater student & parent/guardian involvement than in traditional public schools. Some of these practices include:
- Extended school hours: 7:45 am to 3:30 pm
- Extended school year, in excess of 180 days
- Limit of 25 students per classroom
- Rigorous, integrated classroom curriculum
- Student discipline strictly monitored and enforced
- Strong student accountability measured by national standardized tests
- Parent/Guardian volunteer requirement of (2) hours monthly
- Teacher/Staff accountability measured by yearly parent satisfaction surveys
To be considered for enrollment, parents/guardians are required to fill out a New Student Enrollment Packet in its entirety.
This includes providing copies of official documents, proofs of residency, and medical records. Incomplete or incorrect enrollment packets will not be considered, and will be returned to the parents/guardians.
Open Enrollment is offered on a first-come, first-serve basis.
To ensure that your child has a seat for next year, it is strongly suggested that you return a completed Enrollment Packet as quickly as possible. Once your packet has been submitted, we will schedule an appointment for the parent/guardian and applying student(s) to meet with Principal Mary Jo Walsh.
