Kindergarten

Welcome to Kindergarten!! We are having a great year. Please take a look at what we are doing in our subject areas.

ELA:

We have just begun our unit on The Wind. We have been hearing stories about many different types of weather. Our next story is called “Gilberto and the Wind”. We will be working on cause and effect relationships related to the story. We are also learning to read. We started reading our decodable books and beginning readers. We are hoping to read short chapter books by the end of the school year.

Math:

We are analyzing data and graphing our results. We recently completed our M&M Graphs. We had to find out which color M&M’s were our favorites. It was an absolutely delicious lesson. We are also working on probability. We used our prize tickets we receive for good behavior. We found out that the more prize tickets you have in the jar the better the probability is for getting your name drawn for a prize. We are finding this to be a truly rewarding lesson.

Science:

In Science we are having a lot of fun learning about “Wicked Weather”. This is great because it is directly linked to our ELA lessons. So far we have learned about tornados, hurricanes, and blizzards. We still need to learn about thunderstorms, volcanoes, earthquakes, and tsunamis.

Paragon:

We have traveled to Egypt, Rome, Africa, and on our way to India. We have learned about the 7 continents. We have walked like Egyptians, had an Ancient Roman feast, created rainforests, grasslands and deserts. We will be having our Paragon play on April 27th and our theme is Bali. We won’t want to miss it!

As you can see we are doing great things in Kindergarten and there’s a lot more to come!
